Fri Feb 21 14:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Second Shooter Indicted in Morris Jeff Graduation Shooting That Killed Bystander
**NEW ORLEANS, LA** – Just a day after charges against Laverne Duplessis were dropped in connection with the 2022 Morris Jeff High School graduation shooting, Orleans Parish District Attorney’s Office announced the indictment of another suspect, 21-year-old Brandon Rock. Rock is charged with second-degree murder, possession of a firearm in a school zone, and participating in a riot causing death in relation to the death of 80-year-old Augustine Greenwood.
Greenwood, who was attending her grandson’s graduation, was struck and killed by a stray bullet during a shooting that erupted from an escalated argument between two girls. While Duplessis was initially charged, newly surfaced evidence revealed she acted in self-defense, leading to the dismissal of charges against her. The DA’s office stated that the new evidence indicated Duplessis did not cause Greenwood’s death and her actions were justifiable self-defense. The investigation now centers on Rock, who is alleged to be responsible for the fatal shooting. To stay updated on this developing story, download the WWL-TV News app.
