**Chennai, February 21, 2025** – Students at Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University experienced a unique learning environment on Wednesday, attending a class within the university’s burgeoning Miyawaki forest. The innovative initiative, showcasing the university’s commitment to environmental sustainability, saw students from the Department of Environmental Law and Legal Order (DELLO) participate in a lecture delivered by Vice-Chancellor Col. N.S. Santhosh Kumar.
Col. Kumar highlighted the vital role of Miyawaki forests in urban areas and emphasized the importance of increasing green spaces within public institutions. The lecture, held amidst the now-mature trees – some exceeding 10 feet in height – marked the beginning of a plan to regularly hold classes within the forest. The Miyawaki forest, planted in 2022, is already demonstrating significant growth.
Dean V. Balaji (School of Excellence in Law) and Head of DELLO R. Haritha Devi were also present at the unique outdoor class. The university’s proactive approach to environmental education is setting a precedent for other institutions.
