**NEW DELHI** – Zoya Khan, the 33-year-old wife of notorious Delhi gangster Hashim Baba, has been arrested for possessing 270 grams of heroin, with an estimated street value of ₹1 crore (approximately $120,000 USD). Khan, long suspected of running Baba’s criminal empire while he was imprisoned, was apprehended in the Welcome area of North East Delhi after a lengthy investigation by the Delhi Police Special Cell.
Khan, known for her lavish lifestyle and high-profile social media presence, allegedly managed her husband’s gang’s drug trafficking and extortion operations, mirroring the role of infamous underworld figure Haseena Parkar. Police believe Baba, currently serving time for numerous crimes including murder, extortion, and arms smuggling, trained Khan in coded communication and criminal strategies during her frequent jail visits. She reportedly maintained contact with his associates and other criminals, operating from various locations in North East Delhi with armed bodyguards.
The arrest marks the culmination of a years-long investigation hampered by Khan’s ability to evade authorities. This time, however, the Special Cell obtained intelligence leading to her capture with a substantial quantity of heroin, allegedly sourced from Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh.
Khan’s arrest also links her to the September 2024 murder of Nadir Shah, a gym owner. Police suspect she provided shelter to the shooters involved and interrogated her last month regarding the case. Her family history further underscores her involvement in organized crime; her mother is currently out on bail after being jailed for alleged sex trafficking, and her father had ties to drug networks.
The investigation further reveals connections between Baba and Lawrence Bishnoi, another incarcerated gangster known for his extensive network of hitmen. The two allegedly collaborated on criminal activities, including Baba’s purported confession to his involvement in the Shah murder and his implication of Bishnoi. Bishnoi is also implicated in the murder of musician Sidhu Moose Wala and an attack on Bollywood actor Salman Khan.
The arrest of Zoya Khan represents a significant blow to the criminal underworld in Delhi, highlighting the enduring challenge of dismantling entrenched criminal networks. The investigation is ongoing.
