**PERAMBALUR, February 21, 2025** – The Perambalur Police Department has welcomed a new recruit to its Detective Dog Squad: a two-and-a-half-month-old female Labrador Retriever puppy named “Jenny.” Purchased from Ooty, Jenny was officially christened by Superintendent of Police Adarsh Pachera on Friday.
Jenny will undergo six months of basic obedience training at the Perambalur Dog Squad premises, followed by another six months of specialized training in explosive detection. Upon completion of her training, she will join the squad’s ranks, becoming the second dog dedicated solely to sniffing out explosives. Currently, the squad utilizes “Sakthi” for explosive detection and “Bhairava” for general crime detection, along with the retired “Ninja.” Jenny will be cared for by handlers at the Dog Squad facility throughout her training and service.
