**New Delhi** – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is considering holding two board exams annually, starting with the next academic session, according to the Ministry of Education. This proposal, discussed in a high-level meeting chaired by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, aims to alleviate exam stress and provide students with greater flexibility.
The plan, which will soon be open for public consultation, would allow students to choose between appearing for one or both exams, selecting the best score from either attempt. This optional system, similar to the JEE engineering entrance exam, would offer students a second chance to improve their performance. The exams would likely be offered at different difficulty levels for subjects like Math and Science, allowing students to choose a level aligned with their abilities.
Several scheduling options are under consideration. These include a semester system with exams in January-February and March-April, or a second exam session in June alongside supplementary exams. The final format and schedule are yet to be determined. Minister Pradhan has emphasized that participation in both exams would be entirely voluntary.
