HYDERABAD, INDIA – February 21, 2025 – The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) took action against the Taj Banjara Hotel in Banjara Hills today, seizing the property for non-payment of taxes. The hotel allegedly owes over ₹1.47 crore (approximately $178,000 USD) in back taxes accumulated over the past two years.
Despite repeated notices, the hotel management failed to respond or remit the outstanding dues. The GHMC issued five notices before resorting to the seizure. The seizure of the prominent hotel, a popular destination for celebrities and VIPs, has drawn significant attention.
