Fri Feb 21 09:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Okayama City Launches Kiosk for Easier Access to Municipal Documents

**Okayama, Japan – October 19, 2023** – Okayama City has launched a new initiative to streamline the process of obtaining municipal documents, installing dedicated kiosks at the Kita Ward Office allowing residents to access the “Convenience Store Issuance” service. The kiosks aim to increase the utilization of the existing service, which allows residents to obtain documents such as resident certificates, seal registration certificates, and family registers from participating convenience stores and supermarkets.

Two kiosks have been installed at the Citizens’ Insurance and Pension Section of the Kita Ward Office. Residents can obtain up to five types of documents using their My Number Card. City staff are available to assist with operation. The cost is ¥200-¥350 per document, ¥100 cheaper than obtaining them directly at the ward office. The kiosks are operational from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM on weekdays.

While approximately 300 convenience stores and supermarkets across Okayama City offer the “Convenience Store Issuance” service, current usage stands at only 25% of total document requests. The city hopes the new kiosks will encourage greater adoption. Additional kiosks will be installed at the city’s Nakasu, Higashi, and Minami Ward Offices by early March.

The city government believes the kiosks offer a convenient and cost-effective solution for residents while simultaneously enhancing the efficiency of city services. They are actively encouraging citizens to utilize the new system.
