Fri Feb 21 09:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Osaka City Launches Automated Application System Using My Number Cards

**Osaka, Japan –** Osaka City announced on February 20th the implementation of a new system that automates the transfer of personal information from My Number cards to various application forms. Starting March 12th, this initiative aims to reduce wait times at city offices, particularly during peak periods of relocation.

The system will cover 65 types of applications, including resident registration changes, issuing of resident certificates and seal registration certificates, and applications for child allowances and welfare benefits. Using dedicated terminals located across 111 city offices and branch offices, citizens can select their needed forms, insert their My Number card, and receive a pre-filled application with name, address, date of birth, and gender automatically printed. Applicants will still need to fill in additional details like the number of copies required before submitting the form.

The city estimates this system will reduce processing time by three minutes per application. Mayor Hideyuki Yokoyama stated that this initiative is a step towards creating a “no-writing, no-error, no-waiting” system and demonstrates the city’s commitment to improving citizen convenience.
