**Beijing, February 21, 2025** – Jiang Chaoliang, 67, the former Party Secretary of Hubei Province, has been placed under investigation for alleged serious disciplinary violations and lawbreaking, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) and the National Supervisory Commission announced today. His downfall comes five years and eight days after leaving his post in Hubei.

Jiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the 14th National People’s Congress and vice chairman of its Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, is the sixth high-ranking official to be investigated this year and the second provincial-level official after Qi Zala. He is also considered the first “tiger” (a term for high-ranking official) to fall in Hubei Province since the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.

Remarkably, Jiang was present at the opening and closing ceremonies of both the Hubei Provincial Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Hubei Provincial People’s Congress meetings held between January 15th and 20th, 2025, as reported by *Hubei Daily*.
