Fri Feb 21 14:30:00 UTC 2025: ## Kerala storms into Ranji Trophy final, to face Vidarbha
**Ahmedabad:** Kerala has created history by reaching the Ranji Trophy final for the first time ever. Their hard-fought victory over Gujarat, secured by a slender two-run first innings lead, sets up a final clash against Vidarbha, who defeated Mumbai in their semi-final.
The thrilling semi-final saw Kerala manage a first innings lead of two runs over Gujarat. Resuming their second innings at 114/4, Kerala opted not to enforce the follow-on, eventually agreeing to a draw after Gujarat’s first innings score of 455. Jalaj Saxena (37*) and debutant Ahmed Imran (14*) remained unbeaten for Kerala.
Indian wicket-keeper Sanju Samson expressed his delight on Instagram, stating, “Extremely happy with Kerala’s entry into the Ranji Trophy final. The dream we shared 10 years ago is now one step closer. This is ours; let’s lift the trophy!”
Kerala’s innings was marked by a strong opening partnership of 30 runs between Rohan Kunnummal and Akshay Chandran. However, Gujarat fought back, claiming key wickets, including those of Chandran (9) and Varun Nayar (1). Despite a crucial partnership between Saxena and Kunnummal (32 runs from 69 balls), Gujarat chipped away at the Kerala batting order, dismissing Sachin Baby (10). The decisive moment came when Gujarat agreed to a draw.
The final between Kerala and Vidarbha will commence on January 26th.
