**NEW DELHI** – Rekha Gupta will be sworn in as Delhi’s Chief Minister on Thursday at Ramlila Maidan, marking the BJP’s return to power in the national capital after a 27-year absence. Gupta, who won the Shalimar Bagh constituency, was elected leader of the BJP legislative party on Wednesday in a meeting attended by senior party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankar.

The BJP secured a landslide victory in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 seats and defeating the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party. Gupta’s ascension makes her the fourth woman to hold the office of Delhi Chief Minister. Preparations for Thursday’s swearing-in ceremony are complete.
