Thu Feb 20 07:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Cult Leader Ziz Arrested, Held Without Bail in Connection to Six Killings

**CUMBERLAND, MD** – Jack LaSota, 34, the alleged leader of a cult-like group known as the Zizians, was ordered held without bail Tuesday following her arrest on Sunday. LaSota, also known online as “Ziz,” faces charges including trespassing, obstructing and hindering, and possession of a handgun in a vehicle. She was arrested alongside Michelle Zajko, 32, and Daniel Blank, 26.

The Zizians are suspected in six killings across three states, including the January shooting death of U.S. Border Patrol Agent David Maland in Vermont. Other victims include a California landlord and his wife, and Zajko’s own parents. The group’s motives remain unclear, but online writings suggest radical beliefs centered around veganism, gender identity, and artificial intelligence.

The arrests stemmed from a Frostburg, Maryland incident where the three suspects were found parked on private property in two box trucks, dressed in black and carrying firearms. A rifle and handgun were recovered from the vehicles.

LaSota’s attorney declined to comment on her alleged involvement in the killings. The judge cited flight risk and danger to the public as reasons for denying bail. The three suspects are expected to appear in court again remotely. The investigation, which spans multiple states, is ongoing.
