Wed Feb 19 16:24:38 UTC 2025: ## Kashmiri Medical Student Brutally Ragged, Assaulted in Karnataka

**Vijayapura, Karnataka –** A second-year MBBS student from Jammu and Kashmir has accused senior students at Al-Ameen Medical College in Vijayapura, Karnataka, of brutal ragging and assault. Hameem, a student from Anantnag, alleges the harassment began on Tuesday evening during a cricket match.

According to Hameem, the ordeal started when senior students from the 2019 batch ordered him to stay outside the cricket boundary. Later, a group of seniors confronted him, demanding he leave. When he refused, they forced him to sing and dance for their entertainment. They allegedly attempted to force him into a car, and when he tried to record the incident on his phone, they became increasingly aggressive.

Later that night, a group of 6-8 seniors stormed Hameem’s hostel room, assaulting him and forcing him to record a video apology. They threatened him, warning that they were local students and could make his remaining four years at the college unbearable. They also banned him from playing cricket.

All accused students have been arrested. Nasir Khuehami, National Convenor of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association, strongly condemned the attack, calling it a deeply disturbing case of ragging and violence. He urged the Karnataka Chief Minister to intervene, ensure swift justice, and implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
