Thu Feb 20 03:04:37 UTC 2025: ## Rekha Gupta Sworn in as Delhi’s New Chief Minister in Lavish Ceremony

**New Delhi** – Rekha Gupta, a first-time MLA from Shalimar Bagh, was sworn in as Delhi’s new Chief Minister today in a grand ceremony attended by a host of dignitaries. The event marked a significant comeback for the BJP, which won 48 out of 70 seats in the recent assembly elections, ending the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 10-year rule.

The ceremony, described as a “mega event,” saw the attendance of Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from 20 states, along with numerous BJP leaders and workers. Over 50 film stars and industrialists were also present, alongside diplomats from several major countries and prominent spiritual leaders including Baba Ramdev, Swami Chidananda, and Baba Bageshwar Dhirendra Shastri. Farmers, beneficiaries of central government schemes, and other Delhi residents were also invited. The swearing-in was preceded by a musical performance featuring Kailash Kher.

Gupta’s appointment comes 11 days after the election results were announced. She will lead a six-member council of ministers including Manjinder Sirsa, Ashish Sood, Pankaj Kumar Singh, Ravinder Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra, and Parvesh Verma.

The BJP’s victory followed allegations of widespread corruption against AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia, who spent months in jail. The election results saw AAP reduced to 22 seats, a significant drop from their 62 seats in the 2020 elections.
