Wed Feb 19 18:38:00 UTC 2025: **AIMIM Urges Maharashtra to Allow Early Dismissal for Muslims During Ramzan**

MUMBAI, February 19, 2025 – The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) has called on the Maharashtra government to issue a circular permitting Muslim employees and students to leave work and school an hour early during the month of Ramzan. This follows similar directives issued by the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments.

The AIMIM’s national spokesperson, Waris Pathan, stated that the request is based on a 25-year-old tradition in Telangana and aims to allow Muslims to break their fast in peace and comfort. He highlighted that this would not negatively impact the state’s economy or education system. Mr. Pathan also advocated for extending such considerations to other religious communities.

The Andhra Pradesh and Telangana circulars, issued on February 11 and 15 respectively, allow all Muslim government and private sector employees, including teachers and contract staff, and students to leave work at 4 p.m. during Ramzan (March 2-31), except in cases of emergency.

Maharashtra Congress MLA Amin Patel voiced his support for the initiative, suggesting that such considerations should be implemented nationwide for all faiths. The AIMIM’s request underscores the importance of religious sensitivity and workplace flexibility during significant religious observances.
