TIRUMALA, February 19, 2025 – A touts who defrauded devotees by promising darshan tickets, special services, and accommodation at Tirumala has been arrested and is being questioned by police. Rama Prasad, from Bhimavaram, allegedly swindled ₹4 lakh from a Bangalore devotee under the pretense of arranging abhishekam tickets.
The victim filed a complaint with Tirumala police in December 2024. After evading capture for two months, Rama Prasad was apprehended by police in a neighboring state and brought to Tirumala on a production warrant.
Police investigations revealed that Rama Prasad has been operating this scam for years, falsely claiming connections with TTD officials to secure darshan and other services. He has four previous cases registered against him in Tirumala Two Town police station dating back to 2018, and a new case has been filed in Tirumala One Town. Reports indicate that he may face additional cheating charges in four other states. After questioning, Rama Prasad has been handed over to authorities in those states for further investigation.
