Tue Feb 18 10:31:54 UTC 2025: ## Sudanese Paramilitaries Kill Over 200 Civilians in Three-Day Assault

**Port Sudan, Sudan – February 18, 2025** – Over 200 civilians, including women and children, have been killed in a three-day assault by Sudanese paramilitary forces in the country’s south, according to the Emergency Lawyers group. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), engaged in a near two-year war with the Sudanese army, targeted unarmed civilians in Al-Kadaris and Al-Khelwat villages in White Nile state, areas with no military presence.

The attack, which began on February 15th, involved executions, kidnappings, enforced disappearances, and widespread looting. Many civilians attempting to flee across the Nile River were shot at, resulting in drownings. Emergency Lawyers have described the assault as an act of genocide.

The ongoing conflict between the Sudanese army and the RSF, which began in April 2023, has already caused a devastating humanitarian crisis. Tens of thousands have been killed, over 12 million displaced, and the International Rescue Committee has declared it the “biggest humanitarian crisis ever recorded.” Both sides have been accused of numerous war crimes and abuses.
