Wed Feb 19 10:37:00 UTC 2025: ## Delhi BJP to Announce New Chief Minister Today
**New Delhi, India** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is expected to announce Delhi’s new Chief Minister later today, ending an 11-day wait since their landslide victory in the recent assembly elections. The announcement follows a meeting of the BJP’s Parliamentary Board, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which appointed observers to oversee the selection process.
Newly-elected BJP MLAs will convene this evening to choose their leader, who will subsequently be sworn in at a grand ceremony at Ramlila Maidan tomorrow at 11:00 am. The oath-taking ceremony, scheduled for 12:05 pm, will include prominent figures like Home Minister Amit Shah and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, along with invited guests including outgoing Chief Minister Atishi, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, and Congress leader Devender Yadav.
While several names have been floated as potential candidates, including two-time ex-MP Parvesh Verma, Delhi BJP unit leader Virendra Sachdeva, and Bansuri Swaraj, speculation also surrounds the possibility of a woman Chief Minister. Four women MLAs are among the newly elected representatives. The BJP’s decision is also expected to consider caste equations, a factor that has influenced previous Chief Minister selections within the party.
The BJP’s decisive victory, securing 48 out of 70 seats, marks a significant comeback after 26 years in opposition. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which previously held a commanding majority, won only 22 seats this time around. The Congress party failed to win any seats.
