Wed Feb 19 11:40:08 UTC 2025: ## Delhi BJP to Announce New Chief Minister Today

**New Delhi, Feb 19:** Eleven days after the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP is set to announce its Chief Minister today. Speculation is rife regarding the identity of the next leader, with several names circulating within the party. The swearing-in ceremony, initially scheduled for 4:30 PM on February 20th, has been moved to 11:00 AM on the same day.

A meeting of the BJP legislature party is scheduled for Wednesday evening to finalize the decision. Prominent names being considered include Pramod Verma, Rekha Gupta, Pawan Sharma, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and Jitendra Mahajan. There is also speculation that the BJP might follow the formula used in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan, appointing two Deputy Chief Ministers.

BJP national general secretary Dushyant Gautam stated that the decision rests with the legislature party and the party’s parliamentary board, refusing to confirm any frontrunner. Observers Om Prakash Dhankhar and Ravi Shankar Prasad have been appointed to oversee the process.

While several BJP leaders have declined to comment or denied being in contention, BJP Delhi President Virendra Sachdeva confirmed that the observers are in place and the announcement will be made once a decision is reached. BJP MP Deepak Prakash described the upcoming government formation as a “historic event,” marking the BJP’s return to power after 27 years. He promises a new era of good governance for Delhi.
