Tue Feb 18 19:47:04 UTC 2025: ## Delta Plane Crashes and Catches Fire at Toronto Airport; All Passengers Survive

**Toronto, Canada –** A Delta Air Lines flight carrying 80 passengers crashed and caught fire upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday. While all passengers and crew survived, 21 suffered injuries, two of whom remained hospitalized as of Tuesday morning.

The CRJ900 twin-jet, operated by Delta subsidiary Endeavor Air, experienced a hard landing, resulting in the rear landing gear buckling and the right wing shearing off in a fiery incident captured on video. The plane skidded, overturned, and came to rest upside down. Passengers described a jarring impact and the plane rapidly rolling before coming to a stop. The smell of jet fuel was pervasive at the scene.

Despite the severity of the crash, all passengers escaped the burning wreckage. Many praised the quick response of first responders and the Endeavor crew’s efficient evacuation procedures. Injuries ranged from back sprains and head lacerations to nausea from jet fuel fumes.

The incident is the latest in a series of aviation accidents in North America in recent months, following fatal crashes in Alaska, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. The cause of Monday’s crash remains under investigation by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada and the US National Transportation Safety Board. While the runway was dry, strong winds gusting up to 38 mph and blowing snow were reported at the time of the incident. Aviation experts suggest these conditions may have played a role, although a final determination awaits the investigation.

Delta CEO Ed Bastian expressed relief at the survival of all onboard and praised the response of crews and first responders. Toronto Pearson International Airport president and CEO Deborah Flint also lauded the “textbook response” that prevented further loss of life. The runway where the incident occurred remains closed for investigation.
