**RAMESWARAM, February 18, 2025** – The 12-day Masi Mahasivarathri festival commenced today at the Sri Ramanathaswamy Temple in Rameswaram with the hoisting of the holy flag. The festival, according to Temple Thakkar Bharathi, will feature daily deity processions, special abishekams (ritual bath), and religious discourses.
The main event, Mahasivarathri, is scheduled for February 26th (Wednesday), coinciding with the temple’s car festival. The Ammavasai Theerthavari Urchavam will follow on February 27th. Discourses will be held at the Thirukalyanamandapam throughout the festival, and the presiding deities, Ramanathaswamy and Parvathavarthini Ambal, will be adorned with special decorations. The festival concludes on March 1st.
