Tue Feb 18 13:58:42 UTC 2025: ## IndiGo Passenger’s Damaged Luggage Sparks Viral Outrage; Airline Apologizes

**CHENNAI, INDIA** – A video showing a confrontation between an IndiGo Airlines ground staff member and a passenger whose luggage was allegedly damaged during a flight has gone viral on social media. The incident, filmed at Chennai International Airport (MAA), involved a passenger traveling from Delhi to Bengaluru.

The video, posted on X by Shravan Singh Rajpurohit, depicts damaged suitcases, a backpack, and a tote bag with a broken handle. The ground staff member is seen refusing to be filmed while the passenger questions what action will be taken. The passenger also challenged the staff member to call the police.

Rajpurohit’s X post tagged several Indian aviation authorities, including the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and the airline itself.

IndiGo responded to the criticism on X, apologizing for the passenger’s experience and stating that while minor wear and tear can occur, they understand the upsetting nature of the situation. The airline offered a travel voucher as a goodwill gesture.

In a subsequent media statement, IndiGo acknowledged the video and confirmed they are reviewing the incident. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring a smooth travel experience for all customers.

This is the second recent incident involving IndiGo and baggage-related complaints going viral. A previous incident involved a passenger who discovered a significant weight discrepancy for their bag when weighed on two different machines.

While IndiGo has apologized and offered compensation in both cases, these incidents highlight ongoing concerns regarding baggage handling at the airline. The airline’s response is being closely monitored, and the long-term impact on public perception remains to be seen.
