Tue Feb 18 05:15:31 UTC 2025: ## Delta Regional Jet Flips Upside Down on Toronto Landing, 18 Injured

**Toronto, Canada –** A Delta Air Lines regional jet flipped upside down upon landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, injuring 18 passengers. The CRJ900, operated by Endeavor Air, was carrying 76 passengers and four crew members on a flight from Minneapolis-St. Paul. Three passengers, including a child, sustained critical injuries, but thankfully, no fatalities were reported.

The incident occurred amid high winds and frigid temperatures following a weekend snowstorm. The plane touched down at 2:13 p.m. local time and came to rest inverted near the intersection of two runways. Dramatic videos posted on social media by passengers show the chaotic aftermath, including passengers being evacuated from the upside-down aircraft and emergency responders extinguishing a small fire. One video shows a passenger suspended upside down in their seat.

“We hit the ground, and we were sideways, and then we were upside down,” said passenger John Nelson in an interview with CNN. He described the scene as passengers unbuckling and helping each other escape the aircraft.

Airport authorities closed the airport for over two hours while emergency crews attended to the injured and began investigating the cause of the incident. Deborah Flint, president of Toronto Pearson Airport, praised the rapid response of first responders, attributing the lack of fatalities to their swift action. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is leading the investigation, with assistance from the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, the current owner of the CRJ aircraft program.

The airport is experiencing operational impacts and delays following the incident. Two runways remain closed pending the investigation’s completion. This incident follows a series of recent crashes in North America, highlighting the need for thorough investigation and improved safety measures.
