**Seattle, WA – February 14, 2025** – Wizards of the Coast today revealed a jam-packed 2025 release schedule for Magic: The Gathering Arena, featuring new sets and groundbreaking collaborations with iconic video game, comic, and movie franchises. The year will see a roughly 50/50 split between original Magic lore and “Universe Beyond” crossovers, with the latter now Standard-legal.

The year kicks off with *Aetherdrift*, launching February 14th, a vehicle-themed set centered around a Grand Prix spanning multiple planes. Players can expect the “Max Speed” mechanic and the return of a fan-favorite character.

Next up is *Tarkir Dragonstorm* on April 11th, bringing back the popular Tarkir plane and its iconic dragon clans, along with the colorless dragon Ugin, The Spirit Dragon.

June 13th marks the arrival of a *Final Fantasy* Universe Beyond set. Showcasing characters and elements from across the beloved Square Enix franchise, the set will prominently feature Cloud Strife and Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, promising Chocobos, magic, and explosive action.

August 8th sees the release of *Edge of Eternities*, a space-fantasy set introducing the Sothera system. Featuring a prominent role for Tezzeret, the set promises a universe-spanning quest.

Later in the year, a Marvel Universe Beyond set will introduce Spider-Man to the MTG universe, featuring various versions of the web-slinger and his rogues gallery.

Finally, a highly-anticipated Universe Beyond collaboration with SpongeBob Squarepants is slated for release later in 2025, though an exact date remains unannounced.

The inclusion of Universe Beyond sets in Standard format is a significant change, potentially leading to unexpected deck combinations, such as a Sephiroth-SpongeBob team-up. The full release dates for the Spider-Man and SpongeBob sets are still to be announced.
