**Muscat, Oman –** Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi sharply criticized former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan to relocate Palestinians from Gaza, calling it “inhumane and unacceptable.” He revealed this during a meeting with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean conference in Muscat on Sunday. The ministers also discussed the potential impact of a U.S. decision to rescind or modify sanctions waivers related to the Chabahar port development project, a crucial joint venture between Iran and India.

Araghchi emphasized Iran’s commitment to its longstanding relationship with India and the strategic importance of the Chabahar port, highlighting its role in connecting the Indian Ocean Region to Eurasia and Europe. While acknowledging uncertainty surrounding the U.S. sanctions waivers, he expressed Iran’s continued desire to cooperate with India on the project, leaving the resolution of the sanctions issue to India and the U.S. He also confirmed that the possibility of India resuming oil imports from Iran was not discussed, stating that Iran has sufficient oil buyers.

Regarding the Gaza proposal, Araghchi advocated for a united international response, coordinating with Arab and Islamic countries to oppose the plan. He expressed hope that all nations would uphold Palestinian self-determination rights. He also noted that he discussed the case of Indian nurse Nimisha Priya, who is on death row in Yemen, with a senior Houthi envoy, expressing optimism for a legal resolution to prevent her execution.
