**Chennai, February 18, 2025** – A 43-year-old man, identified as Sathayabalu from Chitlapakkam, has been arrested by the Government Railway Police (GRP) for allegedly snatching a gold chain from a 25-year-old woman constable at Pazhavanthangal Railway Station on Saturday night.
The constable, an employee of the Chennai City Police, was returning home from work when the incident occurred. The suspect, who had been following her, attacked her on a dark platform, pushing her to the ground and attempting to steal her chain. The constable resisted, screaming for help. Responding to her cries, members of the public intervened, apprehending the suspect before he could escape.
The suspect was subsequently handed over to the GRP. Police reviewed CCTV footage, confirming the chain snatching and ruling out any sexual assault. Investigations are ongoing.
