**Erode, February 18, 2025** – A lorry owner was fined ₹20,500 for violating height restrictions on the Dhimbam Ghat Road in Erode district on Monday. Selvaraj, of Chamarajanagar, was transporting beedi leaves from Karnataka to Tirunelveli when his lorry was stopped at the Bannari check post. His vehicle exceeded the maximum height limit of 4.2 meters, as stipulated in a 2018 district administration notification aimed at reducing traffic disruptions caused by overloaded vehicles.
After officials from the Regional Transport Department assessed the situation, Selvaraj was fined for the violation. He was allowed to proceed after removing some of the beedi leaf bundles to bring his vehicle within the permitted height. Height restriction barriers were installed at Bannari and Karapallam check posts in 2018 to enforce the regulations.
