
Mon Feb 17 19:14:16 UTC 2025: ## Over 1,100 Students Participate in Guru Shiksha Competition
**Chennai, February 18, 2025** – The Guru Nanak Educational Society (GNES) successfully concluded the 9th edition of Guru Shiksha, a state-level inter-school and inter-collegiate competition, this past weekend. Over 1,171 students participated in 21 diverse competitions, with the quiz and essay writing events proving particularly popular.
A highlight of the event was the Staff Oratorical competition, open to both teaching and non-teaching faculty from Guru Nanak College and Guru Nanak School. Competitions were held in Tamil, Hindi, and English to encourage inclusivity. The Hindu served as the media partner for the event.
At the valedictory ceremony, awards were presented to winning students by a distinguished panel including the Principal of Guru Nanak College, T.K. Avvai Kothai; Dr. Marlene Morais, Advisor of GNES; Rajinder Singh Bhasin, President of GNES; Swati Paliwal, Dean Academics and Head of GNCCOI; and chief guest Sunil Paliwal, IAS, Chairperson of Chennai Port Authority & Kamarajar Port Limited. Mr. Paliwal spoke on the significance of the Sikh philosophy of “Sangat-Pangat: Celebrating Oneness.”
