Tue Feb 18 15:38:42 UTC 2025: ## Vicky Kaushal’s “Chhaava” Shatters Bollywood Box Office Records, Becomes 2025’s First Blockbuster

**Mumbai, India** – Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical drama, “Chhaava,” is making history at the Bollywood box office. The film, which opened to rave reviews, has not only secured a stunning opening weekend but has also defied expectations by exceeding all previous first Monday collections of 2025 Hindi films, nearly doubling the combined earnings of its top seven competitors.

“Chhaava” raked in a remarkable Rs 24 crore nett on its first Monday, a 50.52% drop from Sunday’s Rs 48.5 crore, according to Sacnilk. This dwarfs the first Monday performances of other 2025 releases like “Sky Force,” “Deva,” “Emergency,” “Fateh,” “Azaad,” “Badass Ravikumar,” and “Loveyapa,” which collectively earned significantly less.

With a domestic total of Rs 140.5 crore and a global gross of Rs 164.75 crore, “Chhaava” has already surpassed its reported budget of Rs 130 crore, becoming the first major Hindi film of 2025 to achieve profitability. The film maintained a strong occupancy rate throughout Monday, peaking at 47.46% during night screenings.

This success marks Rashmika Mandanna’s fourth consecutive box office hit, following “Varisu,” “Animal,” and “Pushpa 2: The Rule.” Directed by Laxman Utekar, “Chhaava,” based on Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel, tells the story of Sambhaji Maharaj, the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha empire. Industry analysts predict “Chhaava” is poised to become one of the highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2025.
