**Thrissur, Kerala –** Union Minister Suresh Gopi issued a stern warning against bribery within the government on Sunday. Speaking at the Kerala Hotel and Restaurant Association’s State Conference, he emphasized that officials will face severe consequences for accepting bribes. He highlighted that public servants are paid to serve the people and urged vigilance to ensure ethical conduct.

Mr. Gopi also lauded the significant growth of India’s tourism sector, citing 92 lakh foreign tourists visiting in 2023, generating ₹2.5 lakh crore in foreign exchange. He credited hotels and restaurants for their crucial role in this success. Both the central and state governments, he assured, will work to address the challenges faced by hotel owners regarding food safety and waste management regulations.

Kerala Higher Education Minister R. Bindu, who inaugurated the association’s charitable activities and presented excellency awards, echoed Mr. Gopi’s commitment to supporting the hotel industry, promising state government assistance with pollution and food safety concerns. The conference was chaired by G. Jayapal, the association’s State president.
