MAYILADUTHURAI, TAMIL NADU—February 17, 2025—Two more arrests have been made in connection with the double murder in Muttam village on February 14th. Munusamy, 47, and Manjula, 48, parents of two previously arrested suspects, were taken into custody and remanded to judicial custody until February 28th. The incident stemmed from a dispute between M. Muventhan and R. Dinesh, escalating into a fatal attack on Dinesh’s friends, K. Harish and B. Sakthi, who later died from their injuries. While police attribute the murders to a personal dispute, families of the victims allege the killings were related to the victims’ opposition to illegal liquor sales. Three suspects, Muventhan, M. Thangathurai, and R. Rajkumar, were arrested and remanded earlier. The investigation is ongoing.
