**Hyderabad, February 17, 2025** – Residents of Hyderabad are facing a 24-hour disruption to their water supply, beginning at 6 a.m. today. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) announced the outage to facilitate the replacement of valves at the Kondapaka pumping station.
The extensive service interruption affects a large swathe of the city, including major areas such as S.R. Nagar, Banjara Hills, Kukatpally, and parts of Madhapur and Secunderabad. Numerous other localities, including several villages supplied by the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Scheme phase 1, will also experience the water cut. A full list of affected areas is available in the original announcement.
The HMWSSB cites the necessity of replacing 900-mm diameter valves on a 3000-mm diameter main pipeline as the reason for the shutdown. Service is expected to be restored by 6 a.m. on February 18, 2025.
