**Hyderabad, February 17, 2025** – Cricket fans in Hyderabad are in for a treat this IPL season. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium is undergoing significant upgrades to host not only Sunrisers Hyderabad’s home games, but also the crucial Qualifier 1 and Eliminator matches in May.
The stadium boasts brand new seating and newly installed canopies over the eastern and western stands, offering much-needed shade from the intense Hyderabad heat. Hyderabad Cricket Association president A. Jaganmohan Rao stated their commitment to making Hyderabad the best IPL host, overseeing meticulous preparations including water provision and smooth entry systems. The stadium’s renowned grounds crew, led by BCCI curator Y.L. Chandrasekhar, will ensure top-quality pitches.
While Sunrisers Hyderabad’s first home match against Rajasthan Royals is scheduled for March 23rd, the stadium will also host the high-stakes Qualifier 1 and Eliminator on May 20th and 21st respectively. Meanwhile, the IPL season opener will see Delhi Capitals facing Lucknow Super Giants in Visakhapatnam on March 24th.
