**LOS ANGELES** – Oscar-nominated actress Monica Barbaro, fresh off her first Academy Award nomination for her role in *A Complete Unknown*, is buzzing with excitement. While remaining tight-lipped about specifics, Barbaro revealed to PEOPLE that she and the cast of *Top Gun: Maverick* are eager for a third installment.

“We’d all feel really stoked to read the next script,” Barbaro shared, confirming that rumors of a *Top Gun 3* are indeed circulating within the cast. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer previously confirmed the project is in development. While details remain scarce, Barbaro’s enthusiastic comments, coupled with previous statements from co-star Miles Teller, suggest significant momentum behind the project.

Barbaro, who played Lieutenant Natasha “Phoenix” Trace in the blockbuster sequel, also discussed the outpouring of support from her *Maverick* co-stars following her Oscar nomination. “Our group chat just blew up,” she recalled. “They’re just super supportive and thrilled.”

The actress’s success with *Maverick* has also helped prepare her for the whirlwind of awards season. “I got to see what it’s all about,” she said, adding that her previous experience with the *Top Gun* cast has eased some of the pressure.

Beyond *Top Gun*, Barbaro is also nominated twice at the upcoming Screen Actors Guild Awards for her performance in *A Complete Unknown*. The film, which stars fellow Oscar nominees Timothée Chalamet and Edward Norton, is currently in theaters. Barbaro will be watching the Oscars on ABC and Hulu, on March 2nd, hosted by Conan O’Brien.
