Mon Feb 17 09:12:01 UTC 2025: ## Delhi BJP Set for Mega Swearing-In Ceremony as New Chief Minister Remains Unnamed

**New Delhi, India** – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a grand swearing-in ceremony for its new Delhi government on Thursday at 4:30 pm, although the identity of the Chief Minister remains undisclosed. The venue is expected to be the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The BJP secured a landslide victory in the recent Delhi Assembly elections, winning 48 out of 70 seats, a stark contrast to the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) 22 seats. The newly elected MLAs will meet on Wednesday to select their leader.

The announcement of the Chief Minister has been delayed, reportedly pending the return of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from overseas trips. Modi is now expected to meet with key party figures, including Home Minister Amit Shah and party chief JP Nadda, to finalize the decision.

Sources indicate a shortlist of 15 candidates has been prepared, with the new Chief Minister, cabinet members, and Assembly Speaker to be chosen from this list. A total of eight ministers are anticipated. While several names are circulating, including two-time ex-MP Parvesh Verma, Delhi unit leader Virendra Sachdeva, and Bansuri Swaraj, the final selection remains uncertain.

The swearing-in ceremony promises to be a significant event, with over 200 BJP MPs, Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states, and other party leaders in attendance. This marks a triumphant return to power for the BJP in Delhi after nearly three decades. The AAP’s defeat, down from 67 seats in 2015 to just 22 this year, is attributed to controversies surrounding its leader, Arvind Kejriwal. The Congress party failed to win any seats for a third consecutive election.
