**Vadodara, India:** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) in a closely fought match today, marking DC’s first loss of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) season. RCB, winning the toss and opting to bowl first, restricted DC to a modest 141/10 in 19.3 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored for DC with 34 runs. Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham were the pick of the RCB bowlers, each claiming three wickets.
DC’s innings started poorly with the early dismissal of star opener Shafali Verma. Despite a 59-run partnership between Meg Lanning and Jemimah Rodrigues, wickets fell consistently throughout the innings, preventing DC from reaching a challenging total.
RCB’s chase got off to a brisk start, with Smriti Mandhana and Dane van Niekerk quickly accumulating runs. While the exact score at the time of the match ending wasn’t provided, RCB successfully chased down the target, securing a win against their rivals. The victory continues RCB’s winning streak in the WPL after their opening match win against Gujarat Giants. This win however ends Delhi Capitals undefeated run after their first match win against Mumbai Indians.
The match was a significant encounter between two strong teams, with RCB having defeated DC in last season’s final. Despite DC’s superior head-to-head record, RCB proved too strong on the day.
