**Vadodara, India:** Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) defeated Delhi Capitals (DC) by eight wickets in a thrilling Women’s Premier League (WPL) match today. This is RCB’s second consecutive victory, following their opening win against Gujarat Giants. DC, who previously defeated Mumbai Indians, suffered their first loss of the season.
Winning the toss, RCB captain Smriti Mandhana opted to bowl first. DC’s innings never truly took off, despite a strong start, and they were bowled out for 141 runs in 19.3 overs. Jemimah Rodrigues top-scored for DC with 34 runs. Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham took three wickets each for RCB.
In response, RCB chased down the target with relative ease. Mandhana herself anchored the chase with a brilliant half-century (50 runs off 27 balls), while Danni Wyatt also made significant contributions. The winning runs came in the 17th over when Richa Ghosh hit a six. Despite losing Mandhana later in the innings, RCB comfortably reached the target, securing a convincing victory.
The match was a closely fought contest for a significant portion, with DC initially building a partnership before wickets tumbled. The strong bowling attack of RCB proved too much for DC in the end, leaving them unable to build a large enough total to defend. The win consolidates RCB’s position in the WPL standings.
