**Mumbai, February 17, 2025** – Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s period drama, “Chhaava,” has stormed the Indian box office, exceeding all expectations with a spectacular opening weekend. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, crossed the ₹100 crore mark domestically within its first three days, raking in an estimated ₹121.43 crore in India alone. Globally, the film surpassed ₹100 crore on Saturday, with a worldwide total exceeding this figure.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh described the weekend as “dhamakedaar” (explosive) and “zabardast” (tremendous), highlighting the film’s phenomenal success. The film’s strong performance is particularly noteworthy given the current state of Bollywood.
“Chhaava” saw impressive occupancy rates across India, with Pune leading at 94.50%, followed by Mumbai at 87.25%. Even amidst unusually high temperatures in Mumbai (reaching 36.7 degrees Celsius), audiences flocked to theaters.
This marks Vicky Kaushal’s sixth and Rashmika Mandanna’s eighth film to achieve the ₹100 crore milestone. “Chhaava” has already surpassed the box office collection of Kaushal’s “Sam Bahadur” and is poised to overtake “Raazi” in the coming days, making it his third highest-grossing film to date. The film, produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films, also stars Akshaye Khanna, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta.
