**Islamabad, February 16, 2025** – At least sixteen people were killed and 45 injured in two separate road accidents in Pakistan’s Sindh province on Saturday, according to police reports.
The first incident involved a van carrying pilgrims to the Lal Shahbaz Qalandar shrine in Sehwan city. The speeding van collided with a donkey cart and then a trailer near Qazi Ahmed town, resulting in five fatalities and ten injuries. Police attributed the accident to reckless driving.
A second, more devastating accident occurred near Ranipur in Khairpur district. A bus from Burewala collided with a rickshaw on the National Highway, claiming eleven lives and leaving 35 injured. All victims in the second accident were reportedly from Burewala, Punjab.
These accidents highlight the ongoing problem of fatal road accidents in Pakistan, frequently caused by speeding, dangerous overtaking, and disregard for traffic regulations. Authorities are yet to release a detailed statement on the ongoing investigations into the causes of both accidents.
