TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A significant weather system is set to impact the Big Bend and South Georgia regions this weekend, bringing strong winds and a heightened risk of severe weather. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday, with gusts potentially reaching 30-40 mph.
Widespread showers and thunderstorms are predicted for Sunday morning, primarily between 6 a.m. and noon. The National Weather Service has issued a Level 2 Slight Risk of severe weather, warning of the potential for strong straight-line winds, locally heavy rain, and isolated tornadoes. Temperatures will peak in the low 70s on Sunday before dropping significantly.
Overnight lows on Sunday will plummet into the upper 30s under clear skies. Monday will be cooler and drier, with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid-30s. Tuesday brings a slight warming trend, with highs in the upper 60s, but another weather system is expected to bring spotty showers Tuesday night.
Looking ahead, another weather system will bring likely rain on Wednesday, although severe weather is not currently anticipated. Highs will remain in the mid-60s, and lows will dip into the mid-40s. Cooler, drier air will follow on Thursday, with highs in the upper 50s and lows in the low to mid-30s.
