Sun Feb 16 10:19:42 UTC 2025: ## Anantapur Police Crack Down on Land Grabbing

**Anantapur, February 16, 2025** – Anantapur police have launched a crackdown on land grabbing, registering cases against eight individuals accused of encroaching on private land within the city limits. Authorities warned that the Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act (PD Act) will be invoked against those involved in such illegal activities.

The III Town police filed charges against the eight individuals for demolishing a boundary wall and erecting temporary huts on a 66.5-cent plot in Lecturers Colony. The land, purchased in 2010 by four individuals from Tadipatri, had its boundary wall destroyed on February 2nd. When the rightful owners attempted to reclaim their property, they were reportedly threatened by the encroachers.

Anantapur Urban DSP Srinivasa Rao stated that further investigations are underway, and additional arrests are expected. He emphasized the police’s firm stance against land grabbing, highlighting the potential for invoking the PD Act against those found guilty. The police acted upon a complaint filed by one of the landowners, C Satyanarayana Reddy. The accused face charges under the relevant sections of the Land Grabbing Act.
