KARAIKAL, February 16, 2025 – A significant road improvement project has commenced in Karaikal district, Puducherry, thanks to a ₹60 crore investment from the Public Works Department (PWD) and NABARD. The projects, launched Sunday, will upgrade numerous roads across the district, boosting connectivity and improving infrastructure.

The initiative includes improvements to major thoroughfares and rural roads, impacting several villages and communes. Key projects include the upgrade of roads in AMS Nagar, Isaq Nagar, and other areas in Karaikal at a cost of ₹9.44 crore, along with significant investments in Thirunallar, Neravy, and T.R. Pattinam communes. The Madur Road, connecting several villages, will also see a ₹5.68 crore upgrade.

The Puducherry Public Works Minister K. Lakshminarayanan, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister P.R.N. Thirumurugan, and Karaikal District Collector Somasekhar Apparao attended the foundation stone laying ceremony. The district administration has assured that work will begin immediately and will be closely monitored to ensure timely completion. The project is expected to significantly improve transportation and economic activity in the Karaikal region.
