Sun Feb 16 13:59:21 UTC 2025: ## Kollam’s N.S. Cooperative Hospital Opens Kerala’s Largest Geriatric Center
**KOLLAM, Kerala, February 17, 2025** – The N.S. Cooperative Hospital in Kollam inaugurated “Saphalyam,” Kerala’s largest geriatric care center, on Monday. The 105,000 sq. ft. facility, located on the hospital’s Mediland campus, boasts extensive amenities including 40 family apartments, 34 special apartments, a 66-bed dormitory, a social kitchen, library, recreation center, mini-theatre, swimming pool, mini park, guest house, ICU facilities with in-house medical staff, yoga and meditation center, physiotherapy center, multi-gymnasium, Miyawaki forest, fish farming center, agricultural garden, trained caretaker services, and a counselling centre.
Finance Minister K.N. Balagopal officially opened the center during the hospital’s 19th-anniversary celebrations. The event also included a cooperative seminar inaugurated by former Chief Secretary V.P. Joy, attended by 300 representatives from the district’s cooperative societies. Minister for Cooperation V.N. Vasavan presided over the anniversary celebrations, while Minister for Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development J. Chinchurani presented the N.S. Cooperative Hospital with its International Cooperative Alliance membership certificate.
The Mediland campus, situated 400 meters from the main hospital and adjacent to the national highway, also houses an Ayurveda hospital, multi-gymnasium, yoga center, beauty clinic, and staff apartments. The projects received financial support from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD). Hospital officials highlighted Saphalyam as a significant addition to the cooperative sector’s healthcare offerings.
