Sat Feb 15 11:28:00 UTC 2025: ## Top Tennis Player Sinner Accepts 3-Month Ban for Clostebol Positive Tests

**Rome, Italy** – World number one Jannik Sinner will serve a three-month ban from tennis, effective February 9th to May 4th, after two positive tests for the banned substance clostebol in March 2022. The suspension, agreed upon with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), will allow Sinner to compete in the French Open, beginning May 25th.

Sinner maintains that the clostebol entered his system unintentionally through a contaminated spray used by his physiotherapist to treat a cut. WADA accepted Sinner’s claim of no intent to cheat and no competitive advantage gained. However, Sinner acknowledged responsibility for his team’s actions and accepted the sanction to resolve the case quickly, avoiding a potentially lengthy process.

The agreement means Sinner will return to the court in time for the Rome Open, a key clay-court tournament preceding the French Open. He expressed relief at resolving the matter, stating that the uncertainty had been a burden for nearly a year.
