Sat Feb 15 03:19:32 UTC 2025: ## New Jacobite Syrian Christian Church Catholicos to be Installed
**Kochi, February 15, 2025** – Joseph Mor Gregorios will be installed as the new Catholicos of the Jacobite Syrian Christian Church on February 25th in Lebanon. The installation ceremony, a significant event for the global Syriac Orthodox community, will be led by Ignatios Aphrem II, the universal head of the Syriac Orthodox Church, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. Bishops from various Syrian Churches will participate.
Preparations are underway both in Lebanon and Puthencruz, India, where the Jacobite Church headquarters are located. A meeting of the Episcopal Synod and Working Committee discussed logistical arrangements earlier this week.
The newly installed Catholicos is scheduled to arrive in Kochi on March 30th, after which he will proceed to Puthencruz to pay his respects at the tomb of former Catholicos Baselios Thomas I before formally assuming office. A felicitation ceremony with various religious, social, and political leaders will follow.
