**Madurai, Tamil Nadu – February 15, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Minister for Municipal Administration, K.N. Nehru, chaired a review meeting in Madurai on Saturday, addressing concerns about municipal mergers and infrastructure projects across several districts. The meeting included elected representatives from ten southern districts.

Nehru announced that petitions from villages seeking exemption from merging with corporations and municipalities will be reviewed, with a 120-day window for objections. He assured that reasonable objections would lead to a reversal of the merger order. The minister also highlighted ongoing road-laying projects and the recent addition of 1.5 lakh LED lamps to the existing 5 lakh. Furthermore, new knowledge centers will be opened based on need. He emphasized the need for faster implementation of water projects.

Thoothukudi MP K. Kanimozhi raised concerns about the water crisis in her district, urging swift action given the approaching summer. She also highlighted the inadequate infrastructure at the Tiruchendur temple, a significant religious site, particularly the lack of proper drinking water supply and road access. She called for expedited work under the Jal Jeevan mission to improve water supply.

The meeting was attended by several other ministers, including the Revenue Minister, Commercial Taxes Minister, Electricity Minister, Finance Minister, Food and Civil Supplies Minister, and Fisheries Minister, along with several MPs and MLAs.
