Sat Feb 15 02:51:35 UTC 2025: **Andhra Pradesh Engineering Colleges Accused of Violating Norms, NAAC Urged to Intervene**
Vijayawada, February 15, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh Technical and Professional Institutional Employees Association (APTPIEA) has called on the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) to investigate several engineering colleges in the state for alleged gross violations of norms. In a letter to NAAC Chairman Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, APTPIEA president M.V. Bramhananda Reddy cited numerous complaints against institutions, including Universal College of Engineering and Technology, Newton Institute of Science and Technology, and AM Reddy College of Engineering, all located in Guntur district.
The complaints allege violations of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and NAAC regulations, including inadequate faculty-student ratios, insufficient lab equipment and infrastructure, and unethical practices such as granting attendance without proper evaluation. Specifically, the letter points to the Principal of Universal College of Engineering and Technology, M. Koti Reddy, who is allegedly simultaneously pursuing an M.Tech degree at the same institution while facing questions about the authenticity of his PhD.
Despite previous complaints filed with the AICTE and JNTU-Kakinada, no action has been taken, prompting the APTPIEA to urge NAAC to conduct thorough inspections and take stringent action against the erring colleges.
