Fri Feb 14 15:04:42 UTC 2025: ## YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia Elusive as Police Investigate Obscenity Claims
**Mumbai, India** – Mumbai and Guwahati police conducted a joint search Friday for popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, known as the “BeerBiceps guy,” following accusations of obscenity and offenses against public morality stemming from his appearance on a stand-up comedy show, “India’s Got Latent.”
Allahbadia was reportedly not at his Mumbai residence when police arrived. While he had initially been asked to provide a statement at a police station, he later requested to do so at home, a request that was denied. A subsequent summons also proved fruitless, leading to the joint search by Mumbai and Guwahati police. The Guwahati police are investigating a separate complaint alleging Allahbadia promoted obscene content online.
Despite his absence, Allahbadia’s legal representative, Abhinav Chandrachud (son of former Chief Justice DY Chandrachud), approached the Supreme Court seeking relief from multiple FIRs filed against him and requesting they be consolidated. While an expedited hearing was requested, the Chief Justice denied it. Allahbadia also sought anticipatory bail regarding the Guwahati case, which was filed earlier this week and also names stand-up comedian Samay Raina, the show’s host. Raina, who has also been summoned by Mumbai Police and the Maharashtra Cyber Department, claims to currently be in the United States.
Mumbai Police have interviewed seven individuals in connection with a complaint filed by a BJP functionary, including other YouTube personalities who appeared on the show. However, no charges have been filed yet. The Maharashtra Cyber Department has summoned approximately 50 people, including film personality Raghu Ram.
Following the controversy, Allahbadia issued a public apology, attributing his actions to a lapse in judgment. Despite the apology, criticism continues, with the matter reaching Parliament. A parliamentary panel has requested a report from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and the National Commission for Women has also summoned Allahbadia.
