Fri Feb 14 19:44:03 UTC 2025: ## Chennai Metro Rail Submits Revised Plan for Airport-Kilambakkam Line

**Chennai, February 15, 2025** – The Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) has submitted a revised detailed project report (DPR) for the much-anticipated Airport-Kilambakkam Metro project to the Tamil Nadu government. The ₹9,335 crore project, encompassing a 15.46 km network and 13 stations, now includes an integrated elevated road corridor alongside the metro line.

The revised plan features a two-tiered structure, with the elevated road on the first level and the metro line above. The corridor will connect to the Kilambakkam Bus Stand, and intermediate ramps near Tambaram will provide access to the Outer Ring Road. Importantly, the DPR also allows for future extension of the metro line to Chengalpattu, based on future demand.

The project, which had previously been submitted three years ago, required design changes following a request from the Tamil Nadu government last year. The Highways Department has now granted approval for the modified design, paving the way for the project to move forward. The 13 stations will include key locations such as Pallavaram, Chromepet, Tambaram, Perungalathur, and Vandalur.
