Sat Feb 15 12:44:12 UTC 2025: **Tamil Nadu Aided Schools Committee to Lobby Deputy CM and Opposition for Funding**

TIRUNELVELI, February 15, 2025 – A committee representing minority and non-minority aided schools in Tamil Nadu has announced plans to meet Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and opposition party leaders to demand increased funding and support. The committee, which held a meeting on Saturday, expressed frustration over the lack of response to previous appeals and a recent demonstration in Chennai.

Rev. Fr. S. M. John Kennedy SJ, the committee organizer, stated that meeting the Deputy CM is a last resort. If this attempt fails, the committee will approach opposition parties, including the AIADMK and BJP, to raise their concerns in the state assembly.

The committee’s secretary, T. Kanagaraj, criticized the ruling DMK party for failing to fulfill its election promises. He specifically highlighted the lack of extension of the breakfast scheme to government-aided urban schools and the absence of funding for teachers in newly permitted English-medium classes in aided schools. The committee’s demands will focus on addressing these funding shortfalls and ensuring the implementation of previously promised initiatives.
